Activity 5

In this activity, you will apply your knowledge about smoking cessation to develop an action plan for a hypothetical patient.

Create a hypothetical character who could benefit from making a quit attempt in relation to smoking.

Apply the first 3 A's of the tobacco intervention toolkit to your hypothetical character.

Regardless of whether your hypothetical character is ready to proceed with a quit attempt, develop a tailored action plan. This practice will support your understanding of preparing an action plan even if the patient is not ready.

Your action plan should include notes about the first 3 A's for your hypothetical patient, and tasks to implement the remaining A's and R's from the toolkit.

After you've completed this, reflect on your action plan. Consider the following points:

How practical and achievable is your action plan considering your hypothetical character's lifestyle, motivations, and potential barriers?

Have you incorporated all the A's and R's from the toolkit effectively?

How will your action plan help your hypothetical patient in a real-world scenario?
