Screening for Substance Use Disorders in Primary Care

Welcome to Screening for Substance Use Disorders in Primary Care (SSUDPC). The SSUDPC course teaches about the screening, basics of treatment, and prevention of substance use disorders related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. SSUDPC provides an introduction to the health consequences associated with substance use disorders and the links between substance use disorders and mental health disorders. Additionally, students will gain practical knowledge on how to communicate with patients, conduct a medical consultation, screen for substance use disorders, monitor treatment effects, and decide when to refer their patients to specialized settings.

Alcohol Counseling

This Alcohol Counselling introductory course provides a foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills, to deliver counseling treatment to harmful drinkers, build patients' motivation to change their drinking behavior, and provide skills for patients to change their drinking behavior and to prevent and deal with relapses. All parts of this training are free, including registration, learning, testing, and a certificate of completion. The course is intended for laypeople who are providing peer counseling.

This Depression Counseling introductory course provides a fundation of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to develop psychological treatments for patients with moderately severe to severe depression, which can be scaled up in routine health care settings. All parts of this training are free, including registration, learning, testing, and a certificate of completion. This course is intended for primary-care physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in training and practice.
