Students will discuss points both for and against personal freedom and collective good as it applies to the topic of vaccination.
Step 1: Review
Review the learning resources in Module 4 with particular attention to ethical principles in public health.
Step 2: Apply
Reflect and think about the effect of personal freedom and collective good as it relates to vaccination. Establish the role of each on vaccination in a pandemic environment.
Step 3: Respond
Briefly discuss both sides of personal freedom and collective good. You should cover the following:
Arguments for personal freedom being of most importance with respect to vaccination.
Arguments for collective good being of most importance with respect to vaccination.
Each argument for the points above should be supported by an ethical principle. For example: Personal freedom is of most importance with respect to vaccination because of [X]. The [X] ethical principle supports this argument because [X].
