Mod3SU2 Learning Activity 2.4 Task
Instructions
- Construct your own word cloud that relates to the theme that you chose earlier on.
- Create a learning activity in which your students are required to build or complete a word cloud. If you work smartly, you will be able to use this activity in your own online classroom later in this module.
- Remember that we work with Papert’s ‘Constructionism’ as the foundation for everything we do in this module. Not only do we want you, in your role as lecturer, to become capable users of technology (for teaching purposes), but we also want to empower you to teach in such a way that your students actually learn by using technology themselves. We also ‘flip’ the responsibility of learning to become the priority of the learner, and not the teacher.
You need to submit the following:
- A Word document in which you describe
- The names of 3 word cloud tools that you explored before making the decision to use the one you built your example in.
- Three reasons why you chose to use that particular tool as opposed to the others that you considered.
- A worksheet that can be used in class:
- Title of the activity
- Name, date and class details (space where the learner can add their details)
- The learning outcome of the activity
- The instructions to the students
- Anything else you deem necessary
- An example of a completed word cloud. Once again, considering the theme/topic that you chose to work with, identify the key concepts and basic terminology that your students would have to master.
- A rubric that can be used to mark the students' word clouds.
