    • Purpose

      The purpose of this module is to enable you to integrate your advanced knowledge and understanding of the pedagogy of distance education and online learning, with relevant online teaching and learning technologies. You will notice that there is a close relationship between this module and the Online Teaching and Learning (Pedagogy) module, as well as the Assessment in Higher Education one.


      Learning outcomes

      Once you’ve completed the learning activities for this module, you should be able to:

      • Familiarise yourself with educational technologies over the ages and to begin exploring some of those tools/services/products that are available in the market for teachers to use in their classrooms. 
      • Design and develop teaching artefacts and learning opportunities using educational technology. 
      • Demonstrate an understanding of flipped classrooms and the importance of active learning and learner engagement.
