Language Arts

Skills in the use of language which lead to proficiency in written or spoken communication.

Least-Squares Analysis

A principle of estimation in which the estimates of a set of parameters in a statistical model are those quantities minimizing the sum of squared differences between the observed values of a dependent variable and the values predicted by the model.,A least squares analysis that minimizes the differences between the calculated and measured values by adjusting the parameters needed to describe the model. It is used for POWDER DIFFRACTION crystallography.

Lethal Dose 50

The dose amount of poisonous or toxic substance or dose of ionizing radiation required to kill 50% of the tested population.

Information centers primarily serving the needs of hospital medical staff and sometimes also providing patient education and other services.

Planning, organizing, staffing, direction, and control of libraries.

Library Automation

The use of automatic machines or processing devices in libraries. The automation may be applied to library administrative activities, office procedures, and delivery of library services to users.

Library Collection Development

Development of a library collection, including the determination and coordination of selection policy, assessment of needs of users and potential users, collection use studies, collection evaluation, identification of collection needs, selection of materials, planning for resource sharing, collection maintenance and weeding, and budgeting.

Library Materials
