Write a report with the theme:

“The underpinning historical factors that influenced the policy development on distance education provision in South Africa”

The purpose of this assessment task is to enable you to interpret, explain and critique the historical factors that influenced the policy development of distance education provision in South Africa. You need to reflect critically and independently on the prescribed reading material.  

Your sources should be read and interpreted with an eye on the underlying historical trends.

Format of report

1. Introduction, conclusion and references – 20%
2. Briefly explain and highlight the historical influences, thoughts and factors that provided an impetus for policy development on distance education – 30%
3. Motivate and explain what are in your opinion the three most important factors and reasons for the development of sound distance education policies in South Africa - 30%
1. Synthesise your argument and explanation and reduce it to the three most important and fundamental indicators for the development of distance education provision in South Africa. Your conclusion should be based on your own opinion and reflection and should be motivated by the contents of the three prescribed resources.
   
4. Critique the three prescribed resources - 20%
