We've upgraded our Learning Management System

We've recently upgraded our platform to bring you a faster, more secure, and more reliable experience. Most things should look and work the same — with a few visual improvements along the way.
We're still fine-tuning some formatting details and minor display issues as part of this transition. If you notice anything that doesn't look or work quite right, we'd really appreciate you letting us know at Contact Us.

Thank you for your patience as we complete these final adjustments — and for helping us make the platform better for everyone.

Mod3SU2 Learning Activity 2.3 Task

Instructions

  1. Search for at least 3 existing infographics that relates to the topic that you decided upon, and reflect on the nature of the content, the look and feel of the graphic, the use of colour, font and spacing, together with all the other visual design principles that you learned about in a previous learning activity.
  2. Search the Internet for a free infographic maker and explore the multitude of templates that are available.
  3. Create your own infographic for one of the concepts relating to the theme that you chose to work on and save it as a picture (e.g. a Jpeg).
  4. As you are well aware by now,  this module is deeply embedded in the notion of constructionism.  However, we don’t only want you to construct your own teaching materials.  We would like to encourage you to start thinking differently about the way your students learn as well.  So, in each of the following learning tasks, you will be asked to submit a worksheet that you can use in your own classroom.  This is where you now move your focus from teaching (which is what you do when you create an infographic for your students) to learning (which is when you get your students to create their own infographics on the topic that you are busy with).

As part of this task, you will, in other words, get to develop a worksheet in which you task your students to create an infographic and you will provide them with an example of what they need to do (this will be the infographic that you designed and developed in nr 3 above).  You will also provide them with a detailed rubric to show them how their infographic will be assessed.
  5. You need to submit the following:
          • A Word document in which you describe
              • The names of 3 infographic tools that you explored before making the decision to use the one you built your example in.
              • Three reasons why you chose to use that particular tool as opposed to the others that you considered.
          • A worksheet that can be used in class:
              • Title of the activity
              • Name, date & class details (space where the learner can add their own details)
              • The learning outcome of the activity
              • The instructions to the students
              • Anything else you deem necessary
          • An example of a completed infographic.
          • A rubric* that can be used to mark the students' infographic.

Take note: You can upload multiple documents in the submission. Be sure that all your documents are upload before submitting.
